The rods on Evo x's don't hold up too well after 375-400wtq. So all things considered, the Evo 8/9 can generally handle higher outputs with less engine/internal work. If you don't plan on going past 400whp/375ish wtq, then Evo x is perfectly fine. The x's do feel much more dd friendly than 8/9's.
