The numbers below are for full auto battles. MG + 7 can go many fights without swapping out any units depending on how much artillery shows up. On average I'd say the "1 in 5 fights" holds until attrition 25-30 or so. Against no artillery they can fight without losses, but replacements, until around 45. With losses 65.

Yesterday I used 1 heavy and 6 rogues and fought 4 battles without losing. I made a mistake and fought a double battle that way and lost all my units - lesson learned on that one - I’m going to keep my barracks and stuff till I have won more units through ge but this thread has really helped me.
